Tuition or travel support is NOT available to any Applicant

Course Tuition.  If you choose the Course-only option, you will be granted access to the Course, and you will arrange your accommodation independently. You may still request Accommodation and Meals at the venue at a later time, and if available, you may pay for the difference separately before your arrival. Payment of accommodation onsite after your arrival is not possible. Further details will be provided to accepted Applicants. If you choose your accommodation elsewhere, you may still purchase individual meals at the Restaurant in San Servolo: both set and à la carte menus are available. Please note that the NSAS is unable to suggest any form of accommodation or any specific hotel outside the venue.

Accommodation and Meals. You will receive accommodation on the beautiful Island of San Servolo, the venue. The island is considered a true gem in Venice, with its lush gardens, a rarity in the city. It is away from the tourists and provides the perfect setting for a study retreat. Yet, it is only a 7-minute regular waterbus ride to San Marco, the very centre of Venice. All meals are included in the Accommodation Fee and are served at the new Restaurant in  San Servolo. Vegetarian choices are also available onsite.

Regular Participants are accommodated in single rooms.

Postdoctoral Fellows and Graduate Students are accommodated in double rooms shared with one participant of the same sex. Postdoctoral Fellows and Graduate Students must indicate a fellow participant with whom they wish to share a room. For this purpose, a list of attendees will be available to registered participants near the Course date. Single-room accommodation may be requested by Graduate Students and Postdoctoral Fellows, pending availability, for a surcharge.

All single and double rooms have private bathrooms.

We ask that applicants who have been accepted complete their registration promptly in consideration of other fellow participants who would be otherwise penalized. The Registration and Accommodation Fees are fixed, regardless of the length of stay at the Course, length of room occupancy, or meals. Registration is complete only after payment in full has been received; this ensures attendance and accommodation if also selected. There is no Registration & Payment on site: accepted participants arriving at an event without completing and paying their Registration will not be admitted.

Registration Categories

For the purpose of Registration at an NSAS Advanced Course, the following are the categories (please note that positions may be considered differently at some academic, clinical, or professional institutions):

Graduate Students are individuals who are enrolled in a Graduate Program (University-issued verification of status is required) and have not previously graduated from a Doctorate program;

Postdoctoral Fellows are individuals who have received a Doctorate Degree and are within 6 years of their Doctoral Degree.

For-Profit are individuals affiliated with a for-profit organization and/or professionals in private practice or consulting businesses.

Credits

If you need University Credits, the NSAS will release a transcript to interested participants at the end of each Course showing the actual amount of effort and work. This corresponds, according to international standards, to 5.2 ECTS Credits. Your own University or research institution will then grant the Credits to you.

Alumni

Alumni are individuals who have previously taken at least one Course at the NSAS and are entitled to a 15% reduction off the Course portion of the regular Registration Fees. Participants taking two Advanced Courses will qualify for the reduced Alumni Rate for the second one.

Forms of payment

Bank transfers and credit cards are the preferred methods of Registration & Payment. Instruction will be emailed to accepted applicants.
