The following information applies to participants who register with the Accommodation and Meals Option. Participants registering with the Course-only Option will seek their accommodation independently: the NSAS is unable to assist with individual accommodation needs.

The Island of San Servolo, Venice.

Participants and Faculty will be accommodated on the Island of San Servolo, which is also the venue of the Advanced Courses. There are five buildings in one of Venice’s prettiest parks, with centuries-old plants and a variety of tree species. Rooms are single, twin (two single beds), and double. The venue is an academic facility: rooms are bright and functional but not luxurious, overlooking the lagoon on one side and the large garden on the other. All rooms have a bathroom, telephone and television, air conditioning, and free WiFi.

Rooms will be assigned as availability permits: the most charming rooms tend to be booked fast and it is recommended that prospective participants enroll early to help ensure the best accommodation.

The Island is located about a 7-8 min water bus ride from the very center of Venice, San Marco. The waterbus runs regularly 20 hours a day, from early morning to late night (approximately 6 am-1.oo am).

All meals are included in the Registration Fees if you choose this option. The new restaurant in San Servolo serves breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Please contact us well in advance if you have specific requests or special dietary requirements: we can place a request but it cannot be guaranteed that all special needs can be met.

Facilities are handicapped-accessible.

Guests

Guests are not permitted to attend the scientific sessions or scientific discussion groups but they may participate in social activities. Details will be sent to confirmed participants. Guest participation, in any case, depends upon the availability of accommodation and there will be extra charges for double or multiple occupancy and meals. If it is necessary for young children to accompany a participant, it is expected that they will not be disruptive to the scientific event. Please contact the NSAS well in advance to ensure that adequate accommodation is available.
