Application and selection process

Individuals wishing to attend a Challenge Workshop must fill the online

Application Form

There is no specific deadline to submit an Application: admissions are on a rolling basis and it is recommended that applications are submitted as early as possible in order to receive prompt consideration and increase the probability of acceptance. When a Challenge Workshop is full, its title will no longer be available in the Application Form and this will marked in the event’s webpage.

Applications are encouraged from all established scientists and scholars active in the research, clinical and otherwise scientific areas related to a Challenge Workshop. Participants are selected on merit only.

The application review and selection process normally takes place weekly on Mondays and Thursdays until the maximum number of participants has been reached for each Challenge Workshop. Additional application review processes may also take place at the NSAS discretion.

The selection process will focus on assembling a scientifically excellent and diverse group and will ensure a very effective Faculty:Participant ratio. For this reason the number of participants will be limited to a maximum of 20 for each Challenge Workshop. Once the maximum number of participants has been reached, this will be notified on the NSAS website. A small number of applicants may be placed on a waitlist in case of later cancellations. Applicants will be notified via email whether or not the application has been accepted.

Applicants are encouraged to provide detailed information accompanying their request to attend a Challenge Workshop. The selection process is a difficult task and solely depends upon the information provided by the applicants: it is highly recommended that particular attention is devoted to documenting how the applicant will benefit from the Challenge Workshop.

After the Application has been accepted, the applicant is granted approximately two weeks for registering and providing the NSAS with a receipt of payment.

The specific deadline for registration and payment will be emailed to confirmed participants. If complete registration is not received within the deadline, the application will be cancelled. Should special circumstances prevent an applicant from meeting the registration deadline, please email us immediately and, at the NSAS discretion, if time allows and if this does not penalize other applicants, an extended deadline may be granted.

Important: family, guests and accompanying persons

The NSAS Challenge Workshop are designed for participants to fully profit from interaction with faculties and other participants both during the lectures as well as during the meals and recreation times. For these reasons, in order to maintain a small group that serves such goals also during the times outside the lecture hall, we remind participants that the presence of family, accompanying persons and guests is welcome but must be well harmonized with the rest of the group.
